| I have only taken up ski touring in the last few years and have made two trips to Norway where the ski touring is simply perfect! This form of ski touring is Nordic on telemark skis sometimes simply called free heel skiing. You ski in flexible boots attached to the skis only at the toe allowing you to both "walk" (including uphill) and ski down. | Though this makes downhill skiing somewhat harder than with the more conventional alpine skis, the flexibility of easily walking along the flat and uphill more than compensates allowing you travel in conditions that would be virtually impossible on foot (without skis). |
